There is a song written and performed by Marvin Sapp called “The Best in Me“.  I relate this song to my relationship with my great grandfather William Henry (Bill) Ballard. It was his desire to encourage and achieve the best in people. As a child challenged by many discouraging situations and setbacks, a refuge for me was a visit to Ballard’s Barber Shop where I could find encouragement as I swept the floors for a hand full of coins. He saw so much potential in me that I cannot remember a time that I didn’t leave him with a tear of pride in his eye. He inspired me to use my setbacks as set-ups.  As a man of political influence, he desired progress for the City of Belmont. As a man of Faith, he desired to infect others with hope and a full life. This attitude and spirit is what has inspired the continuation of his legacy. In September of 2005, with a select team of gifted salon professionals, Ballards Barber Shop reopened as William Henry. This new salon was created to provide salon and spa services to men and women in an atmosphere and spirit of excellence. William Henry now houses 30+ of the most artistic individuals in our region with a passion and natural talent to bring out the best in you. Our future is as bright as what he desired years ago. We have a vision and are determined to plant additional salons in strategic locations throughout our region to share the same excellence in products and services. We have a vision and are determined to educate and develop future leaders in the field of cosmetology to be the absolute best they can be. We have a vision and are determined to have an impact in education and quality in the beauty industry in countries of lesser opportunity. We are diligently working to see this dream into reality.
